Something different for menu planning

One of my friends posted this on facebook recently.

Seven tubs for seven meals.
Place ingredients for each day in the tubs.
Wonder if this would work?

What do you think?

  1. Tania, I'm a big believer in 'organised desk/pantry/whatever = organised mind'. So yes, I think I love this! Nice one. Mimi xxx

    1. To start with I thought that too Mimi, that's why I put it here to see what everyone's opinion was.

Thank you for your thoughts. I think I should just try it and see how it goes.

  2. Its probably a good way of using up older store cupboard items. I think you'd have to work at it to make it work. Interesting!

    1. It could be too much work Joolz. I have a set routine for menu/meal planning and I am not sure if I could stick with this method.

  3. Not sure it would work for me, Tania. It would take up too much space here.

    1. I am thinking the same thing Nanna Chel, I have a big pantry but don't have that much room left. It is far from empty like this one seems to be! Maybe I have too much in mine to be this organised lol!

  4. I think I like the idea in that if we group things into "meals" they are ready to go and like a kit...It would be good for emergency pantry meals. I've my tuna Mornay can be made entirely from pantry items, all I a group would be quite handy. Maybe space would be my issue too.
This could be good in the fridge.... Things lined up for weekday lunches etc... Has me thinking! Xxx

    1. Yes this method could be used in other ways Annabel. Oh to be so organised.

  5. My first thought was that this person has a lot of time on their hands--it looks like something I would do-- (be 'over-organized'), but if it works for her, then that's great. One plus I noticed with this is that if another person had to fill in to make a meal such as a husband, child, etc., everything they need is right there, or if you wanted to take a 'meal' to a friend or neighbor, she has a 'meal kit' at the ready. I imagine she's placed a print out of the recipe in with the containers too! Like I said, if it works for her!

  6. If you had the room and did not use the same ingredients every day - yeah, it might work. My kitchen is just a galley, so I am not sure it would work for me.....

    1. I agree Phil, it looks like it does take up a bit of room. I tried to find out where the picture came from but it appears it could be a facebook one only?

  7. I like seeing how various people organise themselves... for me the space would be a consideration and doubling up the need for ingredients, but it would make it easier to hand over meal making to another member of the family wouldn't it?

    1. Yes it definitely would be easier for family members to use this idea.

Thanks for dropping by this sad neglected blog, hopefully I will get to start posting over here again soon.
